In the case of 3/4" and 7/8" shafts with SAE taper standards we will supply a NZ Modified SAE 1" boss with shortened taper and the appropriate nut as shown above.

Users will then need to purchase a sleeve and key kit from Tacoma Propeller that packs the smaller shaft to fit an SAE 1" Boss. The shorter NZ Modified 1" Boss ensures that sufficient thread is exposed at the small end of the taper to mount a nut.

Thread Measurement:

When measuring the thread on a shaft there are two critical dimensions. The diameter which is measured across the widest part of the thread and will equal to or be just under the diameter of the shaft from which the thread was originally cut.

The other measurement depends upon whether it is a metric or imperial  thread.

Pitch in metric terms is simply the distance between two successive threads or the distance a nut would advance over one full turn measured in mm. So an M20 x 2.0 thread would advance 2.0 mm with a single full turn of the thread.

Pitch in imperial terms is measured in threads per inch  ( tpi ) and is the number of threads included over 1" measured along the thread. If the first " hill " is counted as number 0 then for example the 8th " hill " if located 1" along the thread would indicate  8 tpi.
