Blade Repairs

The blade material contains 50 % short glass content.

When damaged with minor dings and chips - particulary on leading edges which will have an effect on motoring and feathering capability,  repair with reinforced epoxy using normal boat building procedures is a perfectly reasonable option.

Where there has been a significant impact - very careful analysis must be undertaken to ensure the  blade has not been cracked at the root which could lead to blade loss.

The blades are remarkably strong - but of course there can be extreme impact situations wher something is going to break and we argue that inthese situations sacrificing a blade is by far the cheapest and simplist solution to avoiding major drive train damage.

It is simply not possible to bring an engine with flywheel when running at maybe 2600 rpm, coupled to  reduction gear typically 2.6:1 to a dead stop without damage.
