K3 Power vs Shaft RPM
The following graph shows as a guide the power absorbed by a particular K3 blade set & pitchº combination by shaft rpm.
Shaft rpm at max engine rpm is calculated by dividing engine rpm by reduction ratio in Ahead.
It is important to understand different engines are rated differently - some conservatively - others aggressively. Older typically slower runnnng engines will be able to go up in pitchº a little - more modern high speed engines will possibly require lower pitch to achieve their rated max rpm. Some may elect to trade off max rpm for improved cruise speeds at cruise rpm. Because of the shape of engine torque curves this will typically not overload and engine as long as the unit is never run at maximum achievable engine rpm which will overload the engine with damage inevitable over time.
